“Can I make changes?” is perhaps the most frequently asked question by clients.
While we understand wanting to be able to “do things” within your campaigns, you’ve hired us because we are experts, so in MOST cases it is best to send the change request over to us to handle to ensure it will work.
However, for those times that you just can’t wait to engage our expertise, here are the dos and don’ts.
Green Light
- If the campaign is still in development, update away, but please DO notify us of changes made.
- If the campaign is published but contacts have not yet been added, ditto above, and definitely DO notify us of the changes.
Yellow Light
If the campaign is published and contacts have been added, things get more complex. Re-publishing* a campaign that includes active contacts always comes with a level of risk. Only you can decide if you want to absorb that risk, but if the contacts’ campaign flow is disrupted, you’ll be responsible for what is required to put the campaign back right again.
- If the change is in a sequence that does not yet have any contacts in it, the risk for disruption is low. The light is mostly green but tinging towards yellow.
- If the change is in a sequence that includes contacts, but the contacts are on a timer that is not directly before the element you want to change, the risk is higher but probably still ok. The light is yellow.
Orange Light!
- If the change is in a sequence that includes contacts, and the contacts are on a timer that is directly before the element you want to change, the risk is high. The light is orange.
Red light changes that should NEVER be made and should ALWAYS be sent to us include:
- Deleting an element from a connected flow
- Adding an element to a connected flow EXCEPT for adding to the end of the flow IF contacts are not on an adjacent timer
- Setting an element that is in a connected flow to back to draft
- Adjusting a published timer
