Autologin links are a special kind of Conditional Link and are an important structure that enhances customer experience.

However, they don’t work like a standard link and must be tested according to a specific process outlined below.

Begin with your Base Link found under Memberium -> Settings -> HTTP Posts.

Example autologin link: https://your.portal.com/?memb_autologin=yes&auth_key=YourAUTHKEY&Id=~Contact.Id~&Email=~Contact.Email~&redir=/page-slug/

The /page-slug/ is everything contained on the page URL that you want the link to go to that comes after the dot com. If your system includes hierarchy, the slug could include more than one forward slash section such as if you are setting it up to auto-log into a Learndash course page.

Example page slug for a page/post that includes hierarchy: /courses/level-1-foundations/

Use a text editor or equivalent to build your link and follow the steps below:

  1. Copy/paste the Base Link to your text editor
  2. Copy/paste the URL where you want to route your members
  3. Cut the page slug from the URL, as described above, and drop it in place of /page-slug/
  4. Copy the new link to your clipboard
  5. Use the “URL” in the hyperlink structure and paste the link

Testing

!Autologin links canNOT be tested using the user test option in either a broadcast email or in the campaign build email! They can only be tested using an actual subscriber-level contact email, sent in exactly the same manner as you will send the actual email.

For a broadcast:

  • Set up the email broadcast as usual. Choose the receiving audience using this tag:
    6. Segment -> INTERNAL: Testing Conditional Links
  • Proceed with sending the broadcast “now.”
For a campaign email:
  • Set up the campaign email(s) that contain an autologin link per usual.
  • Publish the campaign. **You will need the name of the campaign and the name of the sequence for the next step.
  • Go to Contacts -> “New Search”
  • Pull contacts that have the, 6. Segment -> INTERNAL: Testing Conditional Links, tag
  • Tick the recipients you want to test
  • Open the Actions dropdown
  • Go to Start/Stop a Campaign Sequence and click
  • Find the campaign name
  • Indicate the sequence you want to Start
  • Process the action
Final step: click the link
  • Log into your testing email account using an incognito tab in your browser making SURE you are not already logged into the portal as an admin!
  • Find the test email, open and click
  • Confirm you were routed correctly upon click
